EMT/Firefighter – During the day, Jed is an engineer. At the Squad, Jed is one of the few members qualified to drive the Squad truck. Jed joined after reading the Fall Drive book and thinking that volunteering for the Squad would be an interesting and exciting way to spend his spare time. He hasn’t been disappointed.
Paramedic / Firefighter – Udana has been a BCCRS member since 2004. She moved into the area from N.C. after accepting a job as a biologist at NIH.
The Rescue Squad has been a big part of Laura Heller’s life almost since the day she was born. Her father, Life Member Michael Heller, would take her with him to watch fires and accidents, telling her stories of heroic rescues of the past.
Martha had always been interested in medicine and saw joining BCCRS as a way to get involved in the field. She also saw it as a way of giving back to the community, getting out of her “comfort zone,” and setting a good example for her three children.
Sarah joined the Rescue Squad in 2011. She quickly became an EMT and then an Ambulance Driver.
Joe joined the Rescue Squad at the age of 19. He grew up in Cabin John and attended Walt Whitman High School. In 1985, he was hired by the Cabin John Park Fire Department as a paid firefighter and was later hired by the Montgomery County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
Greg Mitchell joined the Rescue Squad in 1998 and is an active firefighter, EMT, and heavy rescue squad driver. Outside of the squad, Greg runs a satellite engineering consulting company focusing on RF compliance, radio geolocation, satellite payload design and system engineering.
John joined the Rescue Squad in 1989 and is an active firefighter, EMT, and heavy rescue squad driver and Chairs the organization’s Development Committee. He is a partner with the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP.
Keith joined BCCRS as a junior member, at the age of 16, while attending Walter Johnson High School. At WJ, he participated in the High School Fire Science Program and by the end of his senior year had completed all the classes and tests necessary to become a Firefighter.
