BCCRS sent two volunteer firefighters to Virginia Beach for an 8 day, 80 hour FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency Structural Collapse Specialist class last week.
Our members learned advanced skills such as heavy lifting and moving, breaking and breaching, and stabilization and shoring. In order to qualify for this class, members must be Rescue Technicians in the other technical rescue disciplines such as Vehicle and Machinery, Confined Space, High-Angle Rope, Swiftwater, and Trench.
We recognize the potential risks in our community and always strive to ensure that our organization is prepared to meet these needs.
Thanks to Virginia Task Force 2 Urban Search and Rescue Team for the incredible training opportunity.
