Demand for BCCRS Services Increases in 2024 – Call Volume Up 7% Over 2023
BCCRS personnel responded to 8,833 calls in 2024 – an average of more than 24 alls/day – an increase 7% compared to 2023.
Among the most common type of calls:
- Unconscious or decreased level of consciousness (826)
- Cardiac, chest pain, and stroke emergencies (673)
- Building or structure fires (145)
- Pedestrian/cyclist struck by a vehicle (73)
BCCRS by the numbers:
- 8,833 calls (unit responses) (2024)
- 125+ active volunteers (EMTs, medics, firefighters)
- 11 emergency response vehicles
- 9,000+ hours of formal training
