Demand for BCCRS Services Increases in 2024 – Call Volume Up 7% Over 2023

BCCRS personnel responded to 8,833 calls in 2024 – an average of more than 24 alls/day – an increase 7% compared to 2023.

Among the most common type of calls:

• Unconscious or decreased level of consciousness (826)
• Cardiac, chest pain, and stroke emergencies (673)
• Building or structure fires (145)
• Pedestrian/cyclist struck by a vehicle (73)

BCCRS by the numbers:

• 8,833 calls (unit responses) (2024)
• 125+ active volunteers (EMTs, medics, firefighters)
• 11 emergency response vehicles
• 9,000+ hours of formal training
