Tractor Trailer Crash on Beltway

Early Sunday morning, Rescue Squad 741 Bravo responded with units from Montgomery County (MD) Fire & Rescue to an early morning collision on the Inner Loop of 495 just before Rockville Pike. A tractor trailer lost control on the curve and jack-knifed off the road. Nobody was injured, but the diesel fuel tanks on the truck ruptured, creating a HazMat incident. The Squad crew worked in 6″ of mud and cold rain to stabilize the truck and remove sections of guard rail so the Hazardous Incident Response Team could remove the fuel from the truck.
