Kazakhstan Physicians Visit BCCRS
Earlier today, Life Members Charles Loveridge and John Bentivoglio provided a tour and information exchange with four physicians and hospital administrators from Kazakhstan who are participating in a U.S. Department of State program on disaster preparedness and emergency management. The program takes place under the auspices of the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The participants are physicians and hospital administrators—two with a children’s hospital, two with a general hospital; both facilities are in the capital city, Astana. Aside from their respective medical specialties, the visitors have in common responsibilities for planning for and managing medical responses to natural or human-caused disasters. Loveridge and Bentivoglio explained BCCRS’ operational and business model, its integration into the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, and provided a tour that discussed BCCRS vehicles and equipment, living facilities, and training areas. The participants also shared information about emergency services in Kazakhstan.
