BCCRS Removes One Pinned in I-270 Crash
On Saturday, November 24th at 3:34 pm, the BCCRS Heavy Rescue Squad (RS741) and ambulance (A726), along with units from Montgomery County (MD) Fire & Rescue and National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fire Department, were dispatched for a traffic accident with an initial report of one person pinned in their vehicle on I-270 Northbound between I-495 and Old Georgetown Road.
RS741 responded with a crew of four volunteers and arrived within a few minutes. The volunteers from BCCRS used hydraulic cutters and spreaders to remove the front and rear doors, and the “B post” which stood between the doors, on the driver’s side of the vehicle whose occupant was trapped.
After spinal immobilization precautions were put in place, the driver was carefully removed and transported to a local trauma center.
