William Richards began his journey with the Rescue Squad in December 1974, during his service in the United States Navy, where he later received an honorable discharge after four years. With over 45 years of dedicated service, William is a Life Member of the Squad. His active involvement included serving on the Roving Night Crew, including a stint as the night crew officer. Transitioning to a professional firefighter role with Montgomery County Fire/Rescue in 1978, William dedicated over 35 years to various roles within the department, including firefighter, paramedic, communications supervisor, Academy instructor, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain, occasionally stepping in as a Battalion Chief. After retiring in 2014, William continued his passion for serving by volunteering at the Squad. His hobbies include traveling both via his RV and his Harley.
