BCCRS Receives Federal Grant for COVID-19 Equipment and Preparedness
July 18, 2020—The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad has received $45,780 in funding under the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters – COVID-19 Supplemental program. The funding will be used to procure personnel protective equipment and other supplies to bolster the Squad’s COVID-19 preparedness and response.
BCCRS has responded to hundreds of actual or suspected COVID-19 calls in the last several months and provided more than 1,400 hours of “surge” staffing with volunteer personnel – above and beyond the Squad’s normal staffing levels – during the weeks when Montgomery County was experiencing the highest rate of COVID-19 calls.
