BCCRS Rescue1UltraRun Fundraising Event
UPDATE: Ashley successfully completed the Rescue1UltraRun, running over 86 miles starting at 06:00 AM ET on Saturday and finishing at 06:00 AM ET on Sunday! This event also exceeded our $10,000 goal and raised over a $11,000, half going to the Rescue Squad and half going to Feed the Fight. Thanks to everyone for supporting this amazing event. On Saturday, May 9 (06:00 AM ET start time), Pvt. Ashley Donovan (an active volunteer EMT and Secretary of the Board of Directors) will run the ~0.2 mi loop around our station at 5020 Battery Lane. The Rescue1UltraRun will last 24 hours, raising awareness of the importance of volunteer firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics in our emergency medical systems. This event also serves as a fundraiser for BCCRS and Feed the Fight, a local nonprofit coordinating meal deliveries to frontline medical and response workers in our area.

Ashley Bio:
Ashley Donovan is from Washington, D.C. and works for the American Chemical Society, where she manages professional development opportunities for chemistry faculty. Immediately after finishing a Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry at Princeton University in 2014, Ashley and a friend completed a 4-month, 3,165-mile run across the United States. During the trans-America run, Ashley visited many volunteer fire stations, which ultimately led her to join the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad in the fall of 2015. Ashley is an active member of the Sunday Night Crew and has served on the BCCRS Board of Directors since 2018. Ashley is an ultramarathon trail runner and regularly competes in 50 and 100-mile races.
