William Richards

William Richards joined the Rescue Squad in December 1974 while serving in the United States Navy. Currently a Life Member with over 45 years of service. He left the Navy in 1977 after 4 years with an honorable discharge, continuing to volunteer at the Squad. Over the years Bill was an active member on the Roving Night Crew including 2 years as night crew officer. In 1978 Bill was hired as a professional firefighter with Montgomery County Fire/Rescue where he served for over 35 years. He served as a firefighter, paramedic, communications supervisor, Academy instructor, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and would sub as a Battalion Chief. He retired in 2014 and came back to continue volunteering at the Squad. His hobbies are competitive shooting, sailing and traveling both with his RV and his Harley.
