Paramedics provide advanced life support and critical-care skills such as cardiac defibrillation and the administration of life-saving drugs. A paramedic will respond on an ALS unit to calls such as a heart attack, trouble breathing, an unconscious person, or a cardiac arrest. BCCRS units provide transport paramedic services on a daily basis, at varying degrees depending on demand, in Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Friendship Heights, Glen Echo, Cabin John, Potomac, North Bethesda, Kensington, and Rockville.
In addition, BCCRS operates a Bicycle Emergency Response Team which provides medical support at many large local area events, including the annual Taste of Bethesda festival, Pike’s Peak 10K, and Montgomery County’s “Marathon in the Parks.”
