bethesda chevy chase rescue squad

Just after midnight on March 25, 2013, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue units from Bethesda Station 6 were dispatched to 1 Bethesda Metro Center at the Hyatt Regency for the Automatic Fire Alarm. Shortly thereafter, the call was upgraded to a high-rise box alarm for the report of smoke in the building. RS741 responded with 4 firefighters and arrived behind Company 6 to find light to moderate smoke on multiple levels. The squad crew made their way to the parking garage beneath the high-rise with Bethesda Engine and Truck 706 to find smoke coming from an electrical vault. Fire and arcing were visible within the vault and the crews retreated to an adjacent room to stand by at the ready. The fire was being held in check by the automatic sprinkler system. Power had to be controlled prior to assessing the situation and confirming extinguishment. Once the power was controlled, units determined the fire was out. Unfortunately, the power to the Hyatt was shut off to mitigate the incident and all occupants were temporarily relocated. RS741 picked up and returned to service only to run several collisions on the Capital Beltway due to the snowy weather.
