Greg Mitchell

EMT/Firefighter – By day, Greg is a satellite communications engineer. He holds a doctorate in electrical engineering and owns a consulting company. Greg, his wife, and their two children live in Potomac. Before he had children, Greg was an active volunteer with organizations that specialized in outreach efforts, such as tutoring and SAT preparation, to inner city kids.  When his children were born, Greg gave that up to spend time with them. But he missed volunteering. While dropping off his daughter off at a school nearby the Squad, he saw the sign out front and looked into volunteering. It fit his schedule since most shifts would be at night when his kids were asleep. And once he joined, he was hooked. “There is always something new to do,” he says. Now, as his kids get older, Greg says it’s important to be a good example and teach them the value of volunteering. Greg, who served many years as a lieutenant overseeing the Sunday night crew, drives the Squad’s rescue trucks.
