Rescue Squad Collects Toys for TotsNovember 28, 2010
This year the Rescue Squad will again be participating in the Toys for Tots Campaign conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. You may drop off toys (new, unwrapped toys only, please) at our station, 5020 Battery Lane, Bethesda, any day of the week from 9 am to 9 pm, through December 22. Please bring toys to the station entrance near the flagpole, in the front of the building. Toys that may be used as weapons, or that may be considered to be weapons (i.e., toy guns or knives of any kind) will not be accepted. The age-range served by the program includes infants, toddlers and children up to 17 years old. The mission of the Toys for Tots program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, for distribution as gifts to needy children in the community. Since 1947, the U.S. Marines have distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million children. In addition, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a charitable organization created at the behest of the U.S. Marine Corps to provide support for their efforts, has supplemented local toy collections with more than 81.3 million toys. Toys must be new and unwrapped and can be dropped off at any official Toys for Tots collection point. Please visit http://www.toysfortots.org/donate/toys.asp to find a collection point near you and to read more about Toys for Tots (clicking on this link will open a new window in your browser and take you to a third-party website).
