Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad Welcomes Walkers

During Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure

The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad welcomed participants in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure walk on October 10.

The 2010 Washington, D.C. walk covered 60 miles, stretching from downtown Washington to Germantown, Maryland, and back, as part of an effort to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise funds for research. 
 

The Rescue Squad was pleased to provide a "grab and go" stop and a welcome respite for the walkers during their trip through Bethesda. 

This year's walk, October 8-10, coincided with the publication of Nancy Brinker's memoir, "Promise Me," chronicling her life with her sister Susan G. Komen, as well as Brinker's efforts to create the foundation bearing her sister's name that has raised $1.5 billion for cancer research and education.

The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad is a community-supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides professional, no-charge fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the greater B-CC area and Upper Northwest Washington, D.C. The Squad is a valuable part of the community, providing security and peace of mind to residents and businesses, as well as visitors. The Rescue Squad’s annual door-to-door Fund Drive is now under way and continues through October.  Contributions are tax-deductible as permitted by law.
