Winter Safety Information
Several tragic cases of carbon monoxide poisoning have occurred this year in Maryland and the District of Columbia as a result of use of fuel-burning stoves, gas or charcoal grills, kerosene space heaters, or generators indoors. These appliances can cause fatal carbon monoxide poisoning. Experts now recommend that every home have a carbon monoxide detector In addition to smoke detectors. To prevent the risk of a fire, residents should also avoid using candles and should use flashlights instead.
