In Montgomery County - Call 911

The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad is part of the integrated response system for all fire, rescue, and emergency medical services in Montgomery County. We deliver a full range of  ambulance transport services at the basic and advanced life support levels, technical rescue,  and fire suppression services.  The Montgomery County Public Safety Communications Center receives all 911 calls and dispatches all fire and rescue units from its facility in Gaithersburg.   Assignments to calls are based on the closest units at the time of dispatch, commitments on incidents already in progress, and other factors.  Federal fire departments at the National Naval Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health also participate in the 911 dispatch system and may occasionally be dispatched to calls at your home or business.

In District of Columbia - Call 301-652-1000

Our direct service to residents of the District of Columbia began more than 70 years ago and continues today.  A call to our 301-652-1000  emergency number for an emergency ambulance will always initiate an ambulance response from the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad.  Under terms of a Memorandum of Understanding with the D. C. Fire and EMS Department, D.C. may also dispatch a basic life support first responder or paramedic unit, particularly in cases where the paramedic (advanced life support) units are available from a D. C. station that is closer to the emergency and the dispatch information indicates such a response may benefit the patient.

The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad is limited in sending paramedic responses to D.C. under our Memorandum of Understanding to incidents in which they are requested by D. C. Fire and EMS.   D.C. residents should remain confident, however, that a Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad ambulance will always respond when they call.  The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad does not charge for its services.  Individuals who are charged (i.e., receive a bill) by D. C. Fire and EMS for services by Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad should e-mail admin.office@bccrs.org for further assistance.
