Second Alarm Apartment Fire in Glen Echo

Rescue Squad 741 responded to a late afternoon two-alarm fire in the top floor of a 4-story apartment building in the 5000 block of Sentinel Drive.  Glen Echo Engine 711 checked on scene with light smoke showing, and then immediately requested a 2nd alarm when it received a report of heavy smoke on the 4th floor.

The Squad crew conducted a primary search immediately upon arrival.  They found no one trapped, but did assist an elderly gentleman who was having trouble walking down the stairs.  Likewise, a secondary search found no victims.

Although the fire produced heavy smoke throughout the 4th floor, it was quickly contained to the unit where it had started in a kitchen.
